Dr. Alexander Zaks Georgetown Graduate

Georgetown University School of Medicine has many successful alumni. A fine example of the medical school’s alumni is Dr. Alexander Zaks. Dr. Alexander Zaks attended Georgetown University School of Medicine from 1989 to 1993 after graduating from the University of California (UCLA). He chose the medical school because he wanted to learn as much as he could about the medical field.

As a Georgetown University School of Medicine graduate, Dr. Alexander Zaks, he made the school proud. He returned to California to continue learning about medicine and pursuing a specialty. He completed his first medical residency at the University of Southern California’s Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles.

There he found his love of pain management. Once he finished his residencies in 1997, he continued to pursue his pain management specialty at USC’s Hospital Medical Center. He completed his fellowship training in 1998.

Dr. Alexander Continues Georgetown’s Mission

Dr. Alexander Zaks appreciated his time at Georgetown University School of Medicine. It’s why he continues to live its mission statement throughout his medical career. He seeks to care for the whole person. For instance, Dr.Alexander Zaks’ specialty is pain management. However, he’s obtained an Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. His other licensure and certifications are:

• Drug enforcement Agency License
• Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology

Each day he wants to fulfill the mission of treating and care for the patient, not his or her illness or chronic pain. At Georgetown, he learned to listen to patients as they discussed their medical problems and ask questions. Sometimes patients don’t always volunteer vital information. He also learned to use patient information to find the best course of treatment.
In addition, he’s learned from his years of school at Georgetown University School of Medicine how to be:
• Compassionate
• Ethical
• Dedicated to patients, their medical needs and society
• Skillful
• Knowledgeable

Dr. Alexander Zaks Uses His Medical Education in Every Place He’s Practiced

His time there was invaluable. That’s why he’s taken his Georgetown knowledge in every medical job he’s held. Shortly after he finished his pain management fellowship, he worked in the Anesthesiology department of UCLA Olive View Medical Center.
Dr. Alexander Zaks moved on to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He spent a year working in the center’s anesthesiology department. His pursuit of helping patients never stopped. Dr. Alexander Zaks supervises about 100 employees offering surgical and non-surgical treatments to thousands of patients with chronic pain issues.
Since Georgetown taught Dr. Alexander Zaks to never lose his thirst for providing medical care, he hasn’t stopped practicing medicine. In addition to his medical director positions, he is a practicing:
• Pain management specialist
• Surgeon
• Anesthesiologist
• Medical doctor

However, he chose Georgetown University School of Medicine because of its mission and teachings. Every day Dr. Alexander Zaks works to fulfill the school’s mission and teachings. He treats the whole patient, not the illness. He looks for ways to provide the best health care to everyone.
